The American Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of hosting a special Iftar & Ramadan Evening, on March 12, 2026, at Villa Didon – Carthage, bringing together members and friends around an inspiring historical theme :
“From Carthage to Washington: The Legacy of the First Agreement – The Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Tunisia and the United States.”
The evening featured a captivating talk by Mr. Mohamed El Aziz Ben Achour, historian and former Tunisian Minister of Culture, who shed light on the origins of the centuries-old relationship between Tunisia and the United States.
His presentation revisited the early diplomatic exchanges between the Regency of Tunis and the young American republic, highlighting how the Treaty of Peace and Friendship laid the foundations of a partnership that continues to evolve today.
We were also honored by the presence of H.E. Mr. Bill Bazzi, U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia, who joined us as Guest of Honor, reflecting the enduring ties between our two nations.
A special thank you to our sponsors, TFM and Bourns, for their valued support of this memorable evening.
