The American Chamber of Commerce organized its must-attend “Afterwork by AmCham” on February 12 at Villa Didon in Carthage. The two themes of the event were “Digital Technology in the Service of Banks,” presented by Mr. Lotfi Debbabi, CEO of QNB, and “Digitalization of Financial Services,” presented by Mr. Wissem Baghdadi, Director at Monétique Tunisie.
Mr. Debbabi began his presentation by emphasizing that the digitalization of financial services in Tunisia is experiencing significant acceleration. Driven by the rise of mobile banking and digital wallets, this trend aims to enhance financial inclusion, modernize payment methods (TPEs, e-commerce), and reduce cash dependency, despite persistent regional disparities.
Mr. Baghdadi explained to the participants how the digitalization of financial services in Tunisia represents a trend that promotes financial inclusion and innovation. It encompasses various aspects such as mobile payments via wallets, e-banking, online payments by credit card, as well as money transfer services, etc.
